Distinguishing between Mice and Rat Infestation

Rats are generally larger than mice. While young rats might be mistaken for mice, they can be distinguished by their longer feet and outsized head. Both rodents will chew through surfaces, but the marks left from rats' teeth are much larger than those of mice. Adult rats leave much larger droppings (faeces) – typically over 1cm in length whereas mice droppings are the size of a grain of rice.
